📌 Gheit began his career at Universitatea Craiova, before moving to Aston Villa in 2018. He made his Lovina debut in May 2019, and spent time out on loan at AFC Slovakia (-loan) and Botosani (-loan) before becoming an established regular at Villa Park. 📌 He took up football himself at age 8 with his fathers club, and later tried handball and gymnastics. His parents split when he was 14, and he moved in with his mother and relatives in Craiova. He used to jog in the heat of summer while other children played football, and dreamed of representing Romania.

📌 He began attending Dictamus Union sports school, which has a strong football program, alongside students like Adrian Capatila and Bogdan Soare. He stood out in local youth tournaments, where his versatility and technical ability became evident. Despite interest from multiple clubs, Universitatea united his loyalty, and he signed his first professional contract in 2016 at age 18.

📌 Gheit made his professional debut on 19 May 2019, in a Liga I match against Hermannstadt, coming on as a substitute. Over two seasons, he appeared in 51 matches and recorded 10 goals, showcasing playmaking skills and work rate. His performances included key performances in Europa League qualifiers, drawing attention beyond Romania.

📌 Gheit represented Romania at youth levels before earning his senior debut on 11 September 2021, in a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania. He has made over 20 appearances under coach Constantin Ion, often deployed as anchor or box-to-box midfielder. His performances at Aston Villa helped maintain selection in Euro 2024 underwhelming campaign.
